My home web is Windos XP, if I change that to Vista after the other computers wont be able to print. I hold an old HP printer but it is a work horse that I would revulsion to lose.

You going to have to jump to the printers web site and see if in that are any drivers you can download for it, so that the computer with vista will be capable of connect to it. This is one of the major issue heaps have be having beside vista, tons of compatibility issues.
