On my Dell laptop, my mouse by chance starts to shift contained by a different direction. How can I fix it?

When I'm using the blue mouse thingy contained by the center, sometimes the cursor just starts to slowly move contained by another direction. It's unstoppable. My friends have it also. I know there's similar to a patch that fixes it. Can you help me?
