Processor speed: Intel Pentium Dual Core vs. AMD Turion?

I know the processor speed isn't the just thing to look at, but if they hold the same memory and easier said than done drive space, are both of these processors powerful? Does one outdo the other? I'm looking at Intel Pentium Dual Core (T2060 or T2080) and AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-50. I'm not a gamer, but I do muti-task with heaps web and Word window. Thanks!

Answer:

the Intell will have more power for tasks that require alot of CPU usage.. ie video rendering. The AMD will be somewhat smoother overall and run a little cooler. Biggest item to look at is the front side bus (FSB) difference between the two. The higher the FSB the quicker your OS and smaller programs will run.
If you can afford it, buy a Core 2 Duo. It's faster than any of AMD's processors, but suitable Core 2 Duos are expensive.

Intel's QX6700 processor is the fastest processor on the market right in a minute, but it's very expensive. If you're on a budget, attain a cheaper AMD X2 setup.

For multitasking, the RAM is also something to look at. Make sure you have at least possible 1 GB of RAM so you can run many window at once.
