New laptop won't read CDs? Laptop is a toshiba running vista home premium, some discs read some don't?

If it's a brand new laptop then cart it back to the shop. It's still underneath warranty and you should not attempt any repairs beyond running a drive cleaner.
theres either something wrong beside your disc drive..or the discs are formatted to run on vista..

This might be a Vista bug, go to the Toshiba website and look for any fixes for the issue
sameas above, or mayb the cd's r copyed, some things dont read copeyed cd's
