My Matshita UJ-841s DVD drive is region locked. I travel internationally but can't examine DVDs! Solution?

Hi at hand. I bought the Toshiba laptop so that I could work and be entertained as I travel and work around the world regularly. However, my DVD drive is locked, so I can single watch UK DVDs!

I come to nothing to see the sense in a flippin PORTABLE computer have a region lock.

Anyway, I've googled the problem but can't find a solution. I know firmware updates/hacks are illegal and I'm not maxim I'd use one, but I would like to know adjectives relevant info available so that I can make an informed outcome.

If the only solution is to buy another external DVD drive, please recommend a logically priced one.

Thanks guys.

Well, it just data you'd have that Matshita drive. Here's another program that allows you to keep watch on any region DVDs, but it also doesn't work with the Matshita XX-8XX drives-

looks resembling replacing that drive would make life span good.

Contact Toshiba and see if any other brands/models of DVD drives are available for your laptop, maybe? My guess is there probably aren't any, and you'll enjoy to go near an external DVD-ROM drive.

Well, it's not up to the computer maker- all DVD drives which are manufactured- whether standalone for TV, for computers, portable, home the boards etc must have region lock. Governments contained by many countries enjoy bowed to the will of the recording industry on this count.

There is software to circumvent this, although it doesn't work on adjectives DVD drives.

Apparently you can still download DVD Region +CSS Free from some sources, just not anywhere contained by the EU.
find a copy of dvd region free +CSS and install it. Do a google search for the database.
