ok do you see the little speaker at the bottom right paw side of start bar right subsequent to clock should be there if so click on it except you could try control panel and look for sound
First of adjectives...make sure it is not on mute surrounded by the volume control...I have the INSPIRON 6000 and on the front of the actual computer (not screen) I own buttons that are good for medium. Press the mute button (to unmute it, just incase it is on mute). If it still doesn't work reboot your computer...I once have this problem but it sorted itself out. If this doesn't work send it put money on, it is new, and you should hold a guarentee.
RTFM. Look up volume controls in the Dell User booklet.
