My laptop used to variety a crack when I received latest messages but presently it won't. How do I fix this?

I've be into the Control Panel section on 'Sounds, Speech & Audio Devices' and clicked on the New Mail Notification article, chosen the sound I want (even tried a couple of different ones) but it still won't work.

I use Word greatly and it's a pain to enjoy to keep coming out to check my inbox for messages.

Anyone know what's going on?

I've get a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows XP and my e-mail account is next to Yahoo web-mail, if that makes any difference.

Ta,

Sam.

Answer:

Are you using a e-mail tool that will support issuing the sound? are you using outlook or a network browser? If you're not using the tool that the settings connect to, the settings won't do anything.
make sure your nouns is not mute or turn down by playing a song. if thats not it then it outlook problem. try reinstalling it.
